Iran edged through to a final meeting with Oman following a nailbiting semi-final victory over Afghanistan on Saturday.

Oman had earlier completed a more comfortable win over Bhutan to book their place in Monday's climax.

Afghanistan looked favourites to progress at the halfway stage of the match at Penang Sports Club, having dismissed their opponent for 113 ? Iran failing to use up 6.2 of their allocated 40 overs. Beshkani top scored with 38 not out while the pick of Afghanistan's bowlers were Mohammad (3-18) and Katawazai (3-13).

Beshkani's innings would ultimately earn him the man of the match award in what was a low-scoring encounter. Afghanistan remained in the hunt throughout their reply but were eventually dismissed for 111 with three balls to spare.

Oman's progress was rarely in doubt at Universiti Sains Malaysia as they scored 169 ? although they will have been disappointed to have been bowled out with 3.2 overs left unused ? and Bhutan could only score 52 all out from 22.2 overs when they came to bat.

Monday's final will be played at Penang Sports Club with the third/fourth-place play-off between Afghanistan and Bhutan taking place at Universiti Sains Malaysia on the same day. Maldives and China meet in the fifth/sixth-place play-off at Universiti Sains Malaysia on Sunday.
