Day five of the ACC U16 Challenge Cup saw the final Group B matches result in victories for Oman and Iran to send both sides into the last four.

Oman maintained their 100 per cent record when they comfortably defeated China by six wickets at Universiti Sains Malaysia. China mustered only 81-6 from their 40 overs, with the Oman attack keeping a tight rein on the batsmen throughout. Wang Jing?s 24 not out off 36 balls gave the innings some respectability but it was always likely to be too little too late.

Oman made a shaky start in their reply with Wang Huanhui striking twice to leave them on 31-3 by the end of the fifth over. Sweekrith Sajeevan (26) and Ahmed Husain (19 not out) then combined in a stand of 49 to leave their side on the brink of victory. Skipper Chirag Asher duly knocked off the final two runs as the win was completed with 16.2 overs to spare.

Oman will now play Bhutan in Saturday?s semi-final at Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Iran earned a place in the other semi-final (also on Saturday) against Afghanistan with a resounding 141-run win against Myanmar.

Iran amassed an imposing 178-8 from their 40 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat at Penang Sports Club. Myanmar were then bundled out for just 37 off 19.1 overs.
