#OnTheUp: How cricket celebrated the Royal Wedding
The big news of the week was outside the realms of cricket, with the Royal Wedding taking up a majority of screen space.
Cricket happily celebrated the union along with the rest of the world. That said, we’ve already had our Royal Wedding …

Be that as it may, Her Highness the Duchess of Sussex impressed many in the cricket world. For starters, she looked absolutely divine.
The way she added a twist to the occasion was also widely noted.
I love how Megan has done things how she wanted to! #class #royalwedding

And some even believed Prince Harry, now the Duke of Sussex, was doing quite well for himself.
Let’s be honest Harry is punching well above ........ #RoyalWedding

Some, of course, would have done it differently.
I probably would’ve gone for a beach ceremony. Being able to wear shorts is always a plus #RoyalWedding

It gave plenty of people hope.
There is hope for us all! #RoyalWedding pic.twitter.com/PFD5xBlu3w

And there was even an invite from the Sussex county side to their new Duke and Duchess. Sorry, no free passes, though.
👋 Hi guys! Congrats on your #royalwedding

Tickets are still available for today’s match if you fancy the trip down from Windsor! 😅 #gosbts

It was a massive celebration, but Ireland were already there a few days before, thanks to their more-than-impressive performance in their debut Test.
In fact, Kevin O’Brien ensured a lifetime of royal treatment after his brilliant maiden Test century.

And as much a treat as it was to the general cricket fan …
Congratulations to @KevinOBrien113 for scoring Ireland's first Test century, an innings of great concentration and determination against a very good bowling attack. Best wishes to @Irelandcricket !#IREvPAK

… only those rooted in Ireland knew just how big a knock it was.
Been a privilege agonizing through every run today @KevinOBrien113 🙌Great job from @KaneTyrone and @SRThompson91 to bat with you. Brilliant achievement for the whole team to come back on day 4 💪🍾🎊

And to cap it all, it came in front of a famous face.
It’s great to be back in Ireland, first stop was their inaugural cricket test match versus Pakistan #cricket #Ireland pic.twitter.com/P44JDlNgeq

Meanwhile, AB de Villiers once again blurred the lines between human and superhuman, prompting one Virat Kohli to chip in with a pertinent observation.

It perhaps even topped this stunning effort from Rashid Khan.

In fact, so impressive was that de Villiers catch that even the Royals stopped to watch.

Billy Lawry called it quits, and had Shane Warne welling up.

And with four teams through to the IPL play-offs, there was elation …
Congrats to the @rajasthanroyals family for making the play offs - we did it ! So happy for everyone involved & what an amazing effort it was to comeback after the first half of the tournament !! Feeling very proud of you all right now ! 👍
— Shane Warne (@ShaneWarne) May 20, 2018
… as well as some heartbreak for the four that were eliminated.
We had our moments in the first half of the tournament and not upto it in the business end, lots of learnings and positives from this campaign, looking forward to better things in the future and thanks to all those who supported us @lionsdenkxip this year. #IPL2018
