#OnTheUp: No-look shots and Bumrah's clone
The focus last week was all on the women. It was International Women's Day on 8 March – which also means it is now less than a year to go for the big ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020 final at the MCG! The cricket world came out to highlight new programmes for female players, and also celebrate the achievements of women and girls.
It’s #IWD2019!

Strong female role models are important, as this letter to Tammy Beaumont shows.
Wow! Thank you for sharing this. I never started playing to inspire anyone but it’s so touching to have done so. Hopefully I’ll get to meet at this year’s Ashes - maybe one day she’ll take my place! https://t.co/KCZz6nZGVX

England Women had special reason to celebrate, having pulled off a heist in the final T20 International against India to complete a 3-0 sweep. One of their stars was Danielle Wyatt, who had apparently mastered the no-look shot.
It’s amazing how she scores so many runs when she can’t even see the ball 🤷🏼♀️ pic.twitter.com/StGzk5hffE

Elsewhere, Peter Borren recalled a unique incident from his days of local cricket, to show just how fastidious cricket umpires can be.
True story:
— Peter Borren (@dutchiepdb) March 8, 2019
In the highest domestic league in Holland, a ball was hit in the creek & couldn't be retrieved. A replacement was found. The umpire walked to the creek, dipped the ball in the water, therefore ensuring it was in the same condition, before tossing it to the bowler.
And Kevin Pietersen got a reminder of just how much of a difference a day of cricket can make to fans. Even years later, he had reason to reminisce about his path-breaking 158 in the 2005 Ashes.
Nasser Hussain found something he has in common with Chris Gayle. Well, sort of ...
I knew I had something in common with him ...

And have we found a Jasprit Bumrah clone 2637 miles from Ahmedabad?
Spotted in the U-13s League today - another interesting bowling action. Does this remind you of somebody? 🤔@Jaspritbumrah93 @BCCI @ICCMediaComms @ICC #Cricket #HKCricket pic.twitter.com/A8OOfmtfPG
