#OnTheUp: Of farewells and reunions
Johnson, who had stopped playing most forms of the game, said his body was shutting down, and it was time to wrap it up altogether.
Congratulations Mitch you thrilled many Australian’s with your blistering pace & fire. Most importantly you’re respected by all on & off the field. https://t.co/WuAJgHbyan

In India, Ajit Wadekar, who led the national team to maiden Test series wins in the Caribbean and in England in 1971, passed away at 77 after an illness.

Ajit Wadekar’s impact on Indian cricket is immense. His contemporaries worshipped him, such was his aura. Found him to be a tough character as coach. Exceptional Indian cricketer... RIP Sir.🙏

Recorded this on my iPhone last Dec from Point in a friendly fixture. So glad I did. pic.twitter.com/XbdFGn4Izp

There were happier times for India at Trent Bridge.
The architects of the bounce-back were Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant, as both got five wickets on Sunday’s second day. While the former did it with the ball, the debutant did it with the big gloves.
Fantastic cricket, both in front and behind the wickets. Congratulations @hardikpandya7 and @RishabPant777 on your respective 5 wicket hauls! Let’s nip this in the bud now. #ENGvIND pic.twitter.com/lNDVRbQFPc

Bowlers did great for team India but most importantly india was able to do was to play the new ball well. For me that’s giving advantage to Indian team which wasn’t the case before this test match #ENDvIND

And Mithali Raj dealt with a critic with her characteristic calm.
I'm honored that you think I'm a celebrity. I'm merely an athlete on national duty since 1999. We have the challengers trophy going on and I don't have the phone with me on the field or off it on Match days. Hope that's a good enough reason for the delay? Happy Independence Day. https://t.co/nCJkkXEOyV

Scott Styris and Dean Jones engaged in some banter, not for the first time ...

And finally, far away from the cricket field, there was a reunion for some of Pakistan’s finest from the 1980s and 1990s.
