#OnTheUp: Sachin’s game of street cricket and Mir’s message
The Indian Premier League is in full steam and the County Championship is making stars of new hopefuls. All the cricket going around apparently made Sachin Tendulkar itch for a slice of the action – enough to get out of his car and join a group of awestruck fans in Mumbai in a game of late-night street cricket.
It was perhaps the first instance in street cricket where there were no arguments about who’d be the one batting.

It’s the little acts that make for true heroes. And Pakistan Women’s Sana Mir showed again why she is one of the best. She came out strongly with an important reminder for young girls: You are more than how you look.
To all the young girls out there aspiring to take up sports.

Well done @mir_sana05. Let’s stop lining the pockets of corporates feeding on young people’s insecurities and start building their self confidence based in the wonderful diverse bodies they have. #beyou https://t.co/NCIEDJbANz

Chris Gayle was all humility after his 21st T20 century and Virender Sehwag, tilled to be proven right in his decision to bring on board the big-hitting Jamaican, was on point with his meme game.

Ben Stokes is open to ideas about how to deal with AB de Villiers. This is the best he’s got so far.
That was the sound of jaws hitting the floor after Trent Boult’s superhuman effort to get rid of Virat Kohli.
A night of what the.... in the #IPL2018 !! Trent Boults catch is as good a catch as you will ever see & ABD batting was an exhibition & all class !! Wow....

Ian Bishop, however, knows how fleeting fame can be.
So I’m in the line to board my fligh this morning & a Young guy, looks about 25yrs, just said he knew my face from somewhere & asked if I was Malcolm Marshall (God rest his soul). I politely said; sorry I’m not. He then walks past me on the flight & says, “sorry Mr Holding”🤭😁🤣

Away from the IPL, the England and Wales Cricket Board announced plans for a new competition and a new format. There were a few excited people.
One of the biggest successes of the #IPL is the opportunity it gives young Indian players to play under huge pressure and rub shoulders with the best coaches & players in the world ... Hopefully our new Comp will give our Young players the same chance .. #100Ball

For now, the County Championship afforded enough action. Must be something about the pitch, Tim Bresnan might say.
127 wickets fell on Friday 😱
