Tamim last played a Test match in June 2022 against the West Indies and missed the series against India due to an injury. The selectors have also named Shoriful Islam, Ebadot Hossain and Shadman Islam in the squad.

The squad will be led by Shakib Al Hasan, whose availability is a big boost. There were reports that Shakib and Litton Das would be released early from the squad to participate in the IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

The 14-member squad though will be without the services of Zakir Hasan who is currently suffering from a finger injury.

Bangladesh have also left out Yasir Ali, Rejaur Rahman and Nasum Ahmed from the squad.

The one-off Test is set to be played in Dhaka between April 4-8. Bangladesh won the three-match ODI series 2-0 and prevailed with a 2-1 margin in the T20I fixtures.
