PNG and Vanuatu stamp their authority in Jakarta
The PNG Rokroks and Vanuatu are both undefeated after four rounds of the 2009 Pepsi ICC EAP U15 Cricket 8s Trophy being held in Jakarta, Indonesia this week.
PNG demolished both Fiji and Samoa in devastating displays to soar to the top of the table while Vanuatu continued their solid form with convincing wins over Japan and Tonga on day two of competition.
Left arm PNG opening bowler, Vagi, dominated proceedings with a commanding display of accurate fast bowling, collecting five wickets for 15 runs including an amazing hat-trick against Fiji, then following up with four wickets for four runs against Samoa to cap off a brilliant day for the young star.
Vanuatu also played some exceptional cricket on day two, knocking over Japan with reasonable comfort in round three before accounting for an impressive Indonesia to continue their unbeaten run. Young Vanuatu batsmen Naling Nipiko scored two impressive half centuries.
All is in readiness for an exciting final three rounds of the 2009 Pepsi ICC EAP U15 Cricket 8s Trophy, with Round 5 including the highly anticipated match-up between the two unbeaten teams, PNG Rokroks and Vanuatu at the Cibubur Ground.
