Pritchard Belts EAP Emerging to Victory
Samoan young gun Pritchard Pritchard has smashed a magnificent century to set up a 16 run win for the ICC East Asia-Pacific Emerging side over an AGS XI in Queensland on Tuesday.
Pritchard's innings of 135 came off just 99 balls and included six 6s and thirteen 4s catapulting ICC EAP to a strong total of all out for 283.
"It was a great innings by Pritch, who hit the ball very cleanly for his entire innings," said ICC East Asia-Pacific Regional Development Officer Tom Evans. "It was great to see him go on with his innings to post a big hundred."
Pritchard was involved in a number of solid partnerships with several players contributing to the impressive total. The best of these were Japan's Naotsune Miyaji (27), Indonesia's Muhaddis (20) and Toala Teinaki (20) from the Cook Islands.
In reply AGS XI put a lot of pressure on the young EAP sides bowling and fielding thanks to some experienced batting from the home side. However 3 wickets from Vanuatu's Jaxies Samual and 2 from Samoa's Tiafala Alatasi was enough to see AGS all out on the last ball for 267.
Yesterday the squad had an education and training day at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in which all players were able to face international bowlers on the Pro Batter technology provided at the Cricket Australia Facility.
Today the group will go through is Centre wicket scenarios before a final 50 over game at Brisbane Grammar tomorrow.
