Rassie van der Dussen earns CSA central contract

Van der Dussen was one of the bright spots for South Africa in their otherwise disappointing World Cup campaign, finishing as the team's second-highest run-scorer, with 311 runs from six innings. The right-hander, who scored 93 on his ODI debut against Pakistan in January this year, has recorded six more half-centuries since, and has maintained an average of 73.77 in his 18-match career so far.

"Rassie's promotion is thoroughly justified on the back of a brilliant debut season at international level and has also served as an inspiration to all aspiring cricketers at domestic level of what can be achieved by showing top-class form on a consistent basis," CSA chief Thabang Moroe said.

The 30-year old was also named International Newcomer of the Year during CSA's annual awards function held in Pretoria earlier this month. Van der Dussen replaces fast bowler Duanne Olivier in the contracts list.

Among women cricketers, wicket-keeper Sinalo Jofta is currently one point away from qualifying for a full 12-month contract, which she can earn if she is selected for the upcoming tour of India in September and plays in at least one match.
