Raza reaches milestone mark as Zimbabwe downed by Bangladesh

Experienced all-rounder Sikandar Raza has become Zimbabwe's most-capped player during the side's loss to Bangladesh in Bulawayo on Sunday.

The match was Raza's 314th at international level, with the 40-year-old having featured in 22 Tests, 156 ODIs and 136 T20Is since making his debut for Zimbabwe against Bangladesh back in 2013.

Raza's total of 314 international matches exceeds the 313 achieved by former batter Hamilton Masakadza, while Brendan Taylor, Grant Flower and Elton Chigumbura make up the top five for total appearances.

Raza's milestone match was unable to motivate Zimbabwe, with Bangladesh clinching the three-game series against the African side with a narrow four-wicket triumph at Queens Sports Club on Sunday.

Zimbabwe managed a decent total of 143/7 from their 20 overs after Raza elected to bat first in the series decider, but opener Tanzid Hasan (66*) guided the run chase home superbly with two balls remaining.

It saw Tanzid claim both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series award and the left-hander admitted he kept it simple when at the crease during the run chase to ensure he was still unbeaten at the end.

"My approach was not to play too hard. Rather, watch the ball and play on merit," Tanzid said.

Raza claimed two wickets with his off-spin to finish with 2/38, but the veteran was left to rue some dripped catches int he field and what he considered a below-par total with the bat.

"I feared our total was about 10 runs short of what we needed to win the match and the series. I also believe we could have fielded a little better," Raza said.
