Renshaw vies for a place in Australia Test squad
Post an encouraging domestic season, the southpaw hopes to don the baggy green again after playing his part in the recently concluded Men's T20 World Cup.
After his stint in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, Matt Renshaw emphasized on his ambition to return to the Australia Test squad.
With important Test series lined up for the former World Test Championship winners, Renshaw hopes to be in contention for the red-ball side after having a superb Sheffield Shield season, top scoring with 499 runs at an average of 49.90 that includes three centuries.
"I didn't play the full amount of Shield games this year - would have loved to be playing next week as well [in the final] so that made it a bit more frustrating - but I think the way that I'm batting, I can adapt to any situation", the batter told reporters in Gold Coast's Burleigh Beach during Australia's international schedule announcement for the 2026/27 season.
"I feel like I can attack, I can defend and I'm enjoying myself.
"So if I do get to play Test cricket again soon that'd be awesome, but there's a lot of other things that I'm really enjoying at the moment."

"Trying to get back in the Test team is a priority of mine, but anytime you play for Australia is pretty special. And now to have played in the T20 World Cup is pretty awesome."
The 29-year old made his T20I debut in Pakistan earlier in the year and made it to the marquee event squad as a late replacement for Matt Short. He went onto score 37 against Ireland and 65 against Zimbabwe before Australia crashed out in the league stage of the World Cup and was their third-highest run-getter while only batting in two innings at the event.
"I feel like my game's in as good order as possible," Renshaw added, while crediting his recent success to 'mindset shift.'
"With my one-day cricket specifically, I'm able to manipulate the game a bit more"

Matt Renshaw hits a maximum to bring the 100 up for Australia against Zimbabwe at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.
"We're seeing it a little bit more around the world, trying to change the way that bowlers are bowling.
"In the past in red-ball cricket, (as) the bowlers are locking in for top of off (stump), you've got to try and leave as well as you can. But now, just walking down the wicket changes the angle (and) gets him thinking what you're trying to do."
Renshaw made his Test debut in 2016, averaging 53.22 after his first six Tests, that also consisted of a memorable 184 against Pakistan in 2017. His last Test appearance was in 2023 against India, however he is back into contention for a spot in the XI with a middle order vacancy post Usman Khawaja's retirement and Jake Weatherald not securing the opening role yet.
