India has called up an uncapped spin bowler Ravindra Jadeja for the one-day series in Sri Lanka beginning later this month.

Spinner Harbhajan Singh was not included in the 15-member squad on account of his hamstring injury. The offfie suffered injury during the recent home series against England.

In Harbhajan's absence, Hyderabad left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha will lead the spin department

Rookie allrounder Ravindra Jadeja was rewarded for his excellent performance in the IPL and in the recently concluded Ranji Tropy, India’s premier domestic tournament.
Jadeja earned his chance by taking 42 wickets in nine matches in the domestic Ranji Trophy tournament. He also scored 739 runs in nine matches at an average of 67.18

The 15-member squad has seven specialist batsmen in captain M S Dhoni, vice captain Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina.

Delhi batsman Virat Kohli, who was part of the Indian squad for the ODI series against England late last year, was also dropped from the side.

India will play five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 match against Sri Lanka starting from Jan.26.
