Rwanda's Fanny Utagushimaninde rewrites history books
It was a record-breaking day for Fanny Utagushimaninde in Rwanda’s big win over Ghana.
Rwanda opener Fanny Utagushimaninde had records tumbling during her stunning 111 not out off 65 against Ghana in the Nigeria Invitational Women's T20I Tournament.
Making her debut at 15 years and 223 days, Utagushimaninde became the youngest centurion ever in Women’s T20I history when she brought up her ton in the 18th over of the innings.
She surpassed the record held by Uganda's Prosscovia Alako, who was 16 years and 233 days old when she scored a ton against Mali in 2019.
Utagushimaninde's unbeaten 111 was also the highest score by a Women’s player on T20I debut, going past Australia's Karen Rolton, who scored an unbeaten 96 against England in 2005.
On the back of Utagushimaninde's record-breaking innings, Rwanda posted 210/3 in 20 overs and restricted Ghana to 88/8, registering a massive 122-run victory.
