Sammy and Karthik's crystal ball: T20 World Cup champions and Super 12 qualifiers
Who reaches the Super 12 from Group A
Daren Sammy: Obviously Sri Lanka is the favourite to come out of that. And I would say Ireland. They are experienced.
Dinesh Karthik:Netherlands, we have got to remember they have a couple of players who consistently play in England. We have Ryan ten Doeschate, we have Roelof van der Merwe – these guys are going to pose a threat to any opponent. And more so in the league phase. You play just three games, you go wrong in one and then you are against it throughout it.
If I had to put money on two teams I would put Netherlands and Sri Lankain that group. That would be my pick. But I still feel Ireland if they can find a way, especially with Paul Stirling, we have something going on there.

Who reaches the Super 12 from Group B
Karthik:**** Bangladesh definitely has the best chance. They play spin well, they’re a solid team. I’m pretty surprised they even have to play this to qualify – that’s how good they are. But if they have brought themselves here they’ve done something wrong over a period of time somewhere down the line. Bangladesh need to be very careful.
The qualifier is happening in Oman, the home team - so they will have an advantage as well. Let’s not forget they beat Ireland as well at the last (T20) World Cup so they’re not a bad T20 team. They have a few good players.
If you want me to put money, I would put it on Bangladesh and I would love to see Oman do well.

Who reaches the semi-finals from Group 1?
Sammy: With just two teams qualifying, man that's super competitive.
When you look at England, who have been playing some excellent T20 cricket - finalists in the last one (Men's T20 World Cup) in 2016, they won it in the Caribbean. To me what that says, two venues where the pitches are similar – India and the Caribbean – they’ve won and they’ve got to the Final, so their players adjust to the conditions quite well.
You look at Australia who have not gotten their hands on this silverware, they’ll be desperate to get it. The calibre of players they have – so many players who play in the IPL - who understand the conditions.
When you look at West Indies, and people might say I’m sounding biased, but in the last four (three) tournaments we’ve managed to get to the final four, winning two out of that. Our players, the calibre of players we have - when you look at captain Pollard, he’s back, the Universe Boss Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Jason Holder, Fabian Allen, Evin Lewis, I could go on a long list of guys who can just take the attack to you.
Every team looking at the group stage will be thinking you’ve got to start well.
I expect Englandand West Indiesto come out of that group. The person who tops this group gets to the final.
Karthik: (Other than India) It’s going to be a close call for me between Pakistan or New Zealand. I would love to see Pakistan there but I do think New Zealandfind ways to always punch above their weight.
I think they’re a pretty well-rounded team and they have a great leader in Kane Williamson. A lot of the time a leader makes a difference in a World Cup.

Best batter in the tournament
Karthik: The best batter of this tournament will be a close call between Rohit Sharmaand David Warner. Both of them open the innings. Both of them are solid players. I would put money on either one of them. Both are very hungry.
Rohit Sharma and World Cups, they’re synonymous. They just love each other. They find ways to help each other out. If India are to do well he is somebody who needs to fire for them up top.
David Warner hasn’t played cricket for Australia for some time now. A hungry David Warner is a scary David Warner. He will come all guns blazing. I’m expecting some big things from him.
Sammy: I want to agree with Karthik that an opener, someone batting in the top three should get the most runs. You speak of someone like a Virat Kohli.
But getting the most runs doesn’t necessarily mean that your team wins the tournament. I’m more interested in who is going to be the Player of the Tournament. Somebody like an Andre Russell, who bowls and bats and comes in at crucial times, will come out with that title.
Best bowler in the tournament
Karthik: My choice is a guy called Varun Chakravarthy. I feel he’s got something really special in him. If India goes all the way, I can promise you this boy that I’m speaking about will have played a major role in them moving forward in this tournament. Remember the name 'Varun Chakravarthy', Mr Daren Sammy.
Who is winning the tournament
Sammy: It’s a no brainer for me – West Indiesall the way.
Karthik: I’m not going to go all the way to who is going to win but I’ll tell you this, I’d love to see an Indiavs West IndiesFinal. My second favourite team after India would definitely be West Indies, only for the flair of cricket that they play. I think in this format, they love it, it brings out the best in them and I would love to see West Indies in the Final.
Whether I want them to win it, that will depend on their opponents that day but for the moment I would stick with an India West Indies final and these are my two favourite teams for the moment in this T20 World Cup.
