Scotland pick a strong squad to face Bangladesh

Scotland's cricket selectors have been able to pick one of their strongest available squads to face Bangladesh at the Citylets Titwood ground in Glasgow on Monday (19 July).

It will be the first ICC One-Day International between the two sides on Scottish soil since the World Cup in 1999 - the only other official meetings being the two matches at Chittagong and Mirpur in December 2006. Previously, in 2004, Scotland achieved a first victory over the Test-playing nation in an unofficial one-day game in Edinburgh.

For this match, English County players Kyle Coetzer (Durham) and Josh Davey (Middlesex) are both included in the 14-man squad, while former captain Gavin Hamilton returns to the side for the first time under new skipper Gordon Drummond.

Chief selector Iain Kennedy has also been able to include most of the group of players that won five of their seven matches in the World Cricket League Division 1 tournament last week in the Netherlands.

The full squad is: Gordon Drummond (captain); Richie Berrington; Kyle Coetzer; Josh Davey; Gordon Goudie; Gavin Hamilton; Majid Haq; Moneeb Iqbal; Dougie Lockhart; Ross Lyons; Neil McCallum; Preston Mommsen; Matthew Parker; Fraser Watts.

"We are looking forward to playing another Test-playing nation at home," says head coach Peter Steindl. "We aim to continue the fighting spirit that we have demonstrated so far this season and look forward to the challenge that Bangladesh will provide us."

Bangladesh are also playing an ODI against the Netherlands at the same Clydesdale Cricket Club ground the following day, Tuesday 20 July.

Tickets for the games are no longer available online, but can be purchased on the day at the spectator entrance off Dolphin Road, Pollokshields. Tickets are priced at £15, with £10 for senior citizens and students, and £7.50 for children under 18.
