Scotland v UAE
Scotland v UAE (Scotland won by 111 runs)
Richie Berrington, Scotland captain and Player of the Match (127): “It was pleasing to make a contribution and to get the team up to a decent score. It was a real graft to get to that back end and get the runs flowing again. They asked a lot of questions of us. We were under pressure losing early wickets. (Michael) Leask came in and took the pressure off, with (Mark) Watt at the end. It was not the sort of wicket where timing came easy. I tried to run hard and put the bowlers under pressure as much as I could, and then tried to cash in at the back end. Whatever we do, we have to be our best and try to execute our skills as best as we can.
“It was really important after the win against Ireland to turn up and adapt to the conditions. It’s pleasing that we put in such a clinical performance with the ball and make it pretty comfortable. We just have to keep getting better as each game comes. We know the importance of every game. We will enjoy today but we know we have a big game coming up on Sunday against Oman.”
Muhammad Waseem, UAE captain:“I think we started very well. We took six wickets but after that, their captain played a very good innings and took the game away from us. We started well but we suddenly gave away two-three wickets (in reply). Afterwards, we got a partnership but then we collapsed. We cannot qualify now but we want to win the last game and we will try to put some points on the table.”
