Shony wary of threat of PNG
Frengky Shony, coach of Indonesia's under 17 national team, believes that Papua New Guinea will be the team to watch at the ICC EAP U17 Trophy next month.
Indonesia, who will look to the likes of Gema Fajar and Rojerio Maxi Koda to star, believe that Papua New Guinea (PNG) will provide tough opposition for all the competing teams.
"I know that teams such as Papua New Guinea have good pre-match preparation and warm-ups, high skill levels, they work together as a team and play with good sportsmanship and in the right spirit of the game," said Shony.
Shony believes that the game's popularity in Indonesia will only continue to grow and that the side will come even more competitive at junior and senior events.
"Cricket is already very popular in Indonesia although there are still some areas that haven't started playing yet," he said.
"However, with Cricket Indonesia recently gaining full membership of the Indonesian National Sports Committee I believe that cricket will soon be known in all places and among all levels of Indonesian society."
