The Proteas kick off proceedings with a four-match Test series against England which commences from Boxing Day in Centurion, followed by three ODIs and three T20Is, the last of which will be played on 16 February 2020. The newly announced Test series will be a part of the new ICC World Test Championship, which is set to begin following this summer's Ashes series.

England were victors when they last met South Africa in a bilateral Test series in 2017, the 2019 Men's Cricket World Cup hosts prevailing 3-1 on home turf, and they also pinned the Proteas to series defeats in both of the shorter formats.

After a quick turnaround from the England games, South Africa will take on Australia in three T20Is from 21 February, and then a further three ODIs, the final match taking place on 7 March from Senwes Park, Potchefstroom.

South Africa have a better recent against Australia however, having won a one-off T20I in 2018 alongside a 2-1 series victory in ODIs.
