“Congratulations to our ladies on this well-deserved award. They continue to carry the South African flag and the CSA brand proudly wherever they play and this follows the recent achievement of three of our players – Lizelle Lee, Marizanne Kapp and our captain, Dane van Niekerk – in playing dominant roles in the recent T20 Final in England," said Cricket South Africa Chief Executive Thabang Moroe.

“We look forward with confidence to their upcoming tour of the West Indies for the ICC Women’s Championship ODI matches as well as the T20 International series which is an important part of their preparation for the ICC Women’s World T20 in the same country in November."

The South African women were recently included in the revenue-sharing model for the first time and were also given medical as well as retirement cover. They reached the semi-final of the ICC Women's World Cup 2017 in England and whitewashed Bangladesh 5-0 in the ODIs and 3-0 in T20Is at home in May 2018.

Van Niekerk and her team will take on Sri Lanka women to kick-off their ICC Women's World T20 campaign in the West Indies this November. South Africa will look to go deep in the tournament and better their results from 2014, when they had reached the semi-final of the tournament, and put a disappointing campaign from 2016 behind them.
