South Africa's Keegan Petersen earns his maiden Test call-up
Markram was ruled out of the ongoing Boxing Day Test after sustaining a finger fracture on the second day and is expected to be out of action for at least six weeks.
Petersen was drafted into the squad, owing to excellent domestic performances. The 26-year-old has 88 first-class matches under his belt for Boland since his debut in 2012 and has scored 5,490 runs at an average of 40.66, including 15 hundreds.

The right-hander rose up from his provincial U19 team to the senior side and for the next few years churned out consistent performances.
He more recently played exceptionally well for South Africa A against the visiting England side in the drawn three-day warm-up fixture at Benoi, scoring an impressive hard-fought 111 at number three, which included 12 boundaries.
The second Test begins on Friday, 3 January in Cape Town.
