Goolie played a supporting role, but his contribution was just as important. He scored a 75-ball 66 and was dismissed in the 46th over when he tried to accelerate the scoring rate.

Springer fell in the final over of the innings for a well-made 106 from 78 balls, with ten fours and four sixes, becoming Tikoisuva’s fifth victim. But, by then, West Indies already had 333 runs on the board.

Tikoisuva picked up one more wicket in the final over, that of Keemo Paul (19 off 13 balls), to finish with figures of 6 for 59 in his ten overs.

It was always going to be tough for Fiji, but a fight was expected from it. But Alzarri Joseph ripped through the top-order, picking up three of the first four wickets to fall, leaving Fiji reeling at 13 for 4.

Only Vuniwaqa (29) and Tuitoga (12), the captain, showed some fight as they put together a 25-run stand for the fifth wicket, before Pope brushed the Fiji lower order aside, the off-spinner finishing with 4 for 24 to help dismiss Fiji in just 27.3 overs. Kristan Kallicharan, the other off-spinner, also picked up two wickets.

The win brought West Indies level with Zimbabwe on two points from two matches, and the winner of the match between the two teams on Tuesday will determine which of them qualifies for the Super League quarterfinals along with England.
