Squads announced as teams touch down in Malaysia for the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup Asia Qualifier Division 2 2016
The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced the final squads for the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup Asia Qualifier Division 2 2016 to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from September 26th – 6th October , 2016.
There are ten(10) teams competing in the tournament with the top two (2) teams to be promoted to the Division 1 ICC Asia Qualifier to be held in 2017 and is the pathway to 2018 ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup. The participating teams are host Malaysia, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand and United Arab Emirates.
“This tournament will give all the teams and the administrators in Asia, an opportunity to establish the ranking of the 10 participating teams “ said Mr Bandula Warnapura - ICC Asia Consultant and former ICC Asia Regional Development Manager.
“We are privileged and honored to be hosting the first ICC Asia tournament. MCA will certainly do the very best to stage a successful tournament.” said V. Clarence Selvam, General Manager – Malaysian Cricket Association.
The matches are being played at Kinrara Oval, Club Aman Oval, Bayuemas Oval, Royal Selangor Club (RSC) Oval and will be live scored through ESPNcricinfo.
