Sri Lanka announce squad for T20I series against Bangladesh
Charith Asalanka takes charge of the 17-member Sri Lanka squad as they gear up to face Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series.
Sri Lanka have unveiled their squad to take on Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series starting July 10. The series will serve as crucial preparation for both the sides for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which Sri Lanka will co-host alongside India.
The squad features several changes from Sri Lanka's last T20I outing back in January this year against New Zealand - a three-match series they lost 2-1. All-rounder Dasun Shanaka makes his return to the side after nearly a year, having last played in July 2024 against India.
Also making a comeback is Chamika Karunaratne, who last featured in the format for Sri Lanka back in April 2023.
Talented tweaker Dunith Wellalage has also been included in the squad to strengthen the spin department. The 22-year-old, who made his T20I debut last year, has featured in only four matches so far and will be eager to make his mark in the upcoming series.
Another addition to the squad is Eshan Malinga, who earns his maiden call-up to the Sri Lanka T20I side. While he made his ODI debut earlier this year, he is yet to appear in the shortest format. Malinga’s selection comes on the back of impressive performances in the IPL and SA20 league this year.
