Here's a round-up of all the action on day four of the Qualifier.

Sri Lanka vs Malaysia

Put in to bat first, Sri Lanka were spurred on by an unbeaten 87-run partnership between Harshitha Madavi and Nilakshi Silva. Chamari Athapaththu’s 17-ball 30 gave Sri Lanka the initial impetus but she fell inside the powerplay with Nik Atiela picking up her wicket.

Harshitha struck ten fours in her 42-ball 65 whereas Nilakshi compiled 49 in 31 balls to close out a terrific last 10 overs for Sri Lanka. In reply, Malaysia lost opener Wan Julia and Mas Elysa in the second over. Wickets kept falling at one end even as skipper Winifred Duraisingam held on at the other. She remained unbeaten on 42 off 54 balls as Malaysia mustered just 82/7 in 20 overs.

The innings saw three run outs with Sugandika Kumari and Anura Ranasinghe sharing two wickets apiece.

Scotland vs Kenya

The rain-hit game was reduced to an eight-over contest with Scotland batting first after Kenya won the toss and opted to bowl. Kenya found the early breakthrough with the wicket of Sarah Bryce, but Abbi Aitken-Drummond and Kathryn Bryce put on a quick stand to up the scoring rate. Kathryn’s 19-ball 27 proved to be critical to Scotland’s total of 70/3 in 8 overs.

In reply, Kenya were reduced to 13/2 inside the first two overs with Katherine Fraser sending back the Kenyan openers off back-to-back deliveries. Sarah Wetoto came out all guns blazing at No.4 to put Kenya’s innings back on course. Abtaha Maqsood got rid of skipper Margaret Ngoche soon after and Sharon Juma never quite got going as Sarah’s 16-ball 24 went in vain.

Brief Scores

Scotland beat Kenya by 16 runs (DLS Method). Scotland 70/3 in 8 overs; Kenya 54/3 in 8 overs.
