Sri Lanka name Test squad as Angelo Mathews misses South Africa series
Angelo Mathews is named as part of the squad but misses the tour to South Africa due to injury.
The Dimuth Karunaratne-led outfit features several uncapped Test players in Minod Bhanuka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Asitha Fernando, Santhush Gunathilake and Dilshan Madushanka. Gunathilake and Madushanka are the only ones in the squad who haven't played any form of senior international cricket.
The series in South Africa, which will kick off at Centurion on 26 December, and then move to Johannesburg for the second and final Test, marks Sri Lanka's first Test series since January.
It will also be their third series in the World Test Championship. In two series so far, they have won one of four matches they've played and are currently placed sixth in the table.
Following the two Tests against South Africa, they will return home to play England in two Tests at Galle between 14-26 January, with Mathews expected to return.
