Stafanie Taylor, Lauren Winfield sign with Adelaide Strikers
The duo will share the third international spot in the team, alongside New Zealand pair of Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine. Taylor, the West Indies skipper, will be available for the first and last two matches of the league stages and the playoffs should Adelaide make it that far. Winfield will fill in for her during the middle chunk of the season.
An explosive batter and handy off-spinner, Taylor is ranked No.3 on the MRF Tyres ICC Women's T20I Rankings for all-rounders. She has been a great performer in WBBL too. In 58 games for Sydney Thunder across four seasons, she scored 1,041 runs and picked up 46 wickets.
"I’m very much excited about WBBL (this year), especially in a new environment," Taylor was quoted as saying by the Adelaide Strikers website.
"I don’t know much about the team, but I am mostly looking forward to playing alongside Suzie (Bates) and Sophie (Devine). And my favourite colour is blue!"
England's Winfield has previously represented Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes in the competition. She too is excited about the move to Adelaide.
"Adelaide has always looked like a club with a fantastic culture, both in the women's and the men's," Winfield said. "It will certainly be nice to play alongside Megan Schutt rather than having to face her hooping in-swingers!"
Adelaide Strikers play their first game of the tournament on 19 October against Melbourne Renegades at the Karen Rolton Oval.
