Hasaranga was picked for Lanka's T20I series against India in February this year but had to miss out after contracting Covid-19.

With a strong showing in the recently concluded IPL, where he finished as the second-highest wicket-taker with 26 scalps, the 24-year-old will be itching to make a mark in international cricket again.

Also returning to the side is wicketkeeper-bat Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who replaces Dinesh Chandimal in the side. Along with Chandimal, Lahiru Kumara and Dhananjaya de Silva have also been dropped.

Hasaranga, who was the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2022, returns to Sri Lanka's T20I squad

All-rounder Lahiru Madushanka, whose last T20I outing was in Sri Lanka's home series against South Africa in 2021, returns to the squad as well.

Pacer Kasun Rajitha has also been included in the squad following his outstanding performance in Sri Lanka's recently concluded Test series against Bangladesh. The impressive 19-year-old pacer Matheesha Pathirana and right-handed batter Nuwanidu Fernando are the only newcomers to the squad.

Wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella and leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay have been named as standby players.
