"The moment this issue was detected, the Event Ticket Service Provider Ticketmaster immediately put every possible contingency in place to ensure all affected customers were offered the best possible alternatives so that they don?t miss out on the opportunity of watching and enjoying the event. Furthermore, where spectators have been reassigned seats, they will be provided with a full refund of the cost of the tickets originally purchased."

"Letters have been sent to the 96 customers affected at the final in which the situation is explained and letters to the remaining 47 customers are currently being prepared."

A spokesman for Ticketmaster said: "A ticket management error caused the problem which resulted in the over-sale of tickets in certain price categories. We have worked closely with the ICC to ensure any spectator affected by this database error is provided with the next best available seats for the same match. We understand and accept that this error has caused inconvenience to some spectators which is deeply regretted."
