The Proteas have included uncapped right-arm medium-pace bowler Glenton Stuurman in the squad.

The 28-year-old has played 43 competitive white-ball matches in his career, taking 55 wickets, while he has also picked up 35 wickets in ten franchise outings for the Warriors.

Additionally, he has also played 45 first-class games, with 178 wickets to his name.

The South Africa squad also features a strong core of experienced players such as De Kock, Faf du Plessis, Kagiso Rabada, David Miller and Temba Bavuma.

South Africa's last international assignment was a tour of India in March, which was abandoned due to COVID-19 restrictions after the washed-out first ODI. Fast bowler Rabada missed a spot in that squad due to injury and the management will be pleased to have him back in the mix.

Fellow fast bowler Junior Dala, who last played an international match in March 2019, is back in the squad after a lengthy injury-enforced layoff.

South Africa's decision to announce an enlarged squad is in keeping with the strategy teams have followed to help cope with the unique requirements of bio-secure bubbles.

Newly-appointed Convenor of Selectors, Victor Mpitsang said: “With the bio-secure environment where movement in and out of the squad will be limited, we had to make sure that we have all our bases covered with the 24 players. It also gives the team the opportunity to play some inter-squad games just to make sure that they sharpen up those white-ball skills before the series start."

The series, beginning on 27 November, is scheduled to feature three T20Is and three ODIs.
