Battle lines have been drawn and teams are well prepared for the 2012 Cricket Fiji Suva Secondary schools competition which begins on Friday the 24th when Suva Grammar take on Gospel High School at Albert Park.

Eight teams will compete over the next 13 weeks with the finals day scheduled to take place on the 21st May 2012.

Last year's winners Marist Brothers are back and ready to retain their title especially given that their old foes Suva Grammar have returned to the competition after a long break.

"Having 8 teams playing this year from up from 5 last year, shows the progress that cricket is making in getting re-established as a sport to play at school," said Cricket Fiji's Development Manager and Tournament Director Jo Rika. "Most pleasing is having Suva Grammar return after a long break away from the game."

"Kalabu Fijian Secondary has entered two teams including one that is a mixed sex team, it will be interesting to see how the girls participate. Last year's games were keenly contested and we expect a excellent tournament this year," Rika continued.

The teams taking part are International School (Suva), Marist Brothers, Suva Grammar, Gospel High School, John Wesley College, Kalabu Fijian Secondary (2 teams) and J. Narian College.

The winners will play in the nationals School challenge against the Western Secondary Schools champions which is due to be played later in the year. Current National Champions are Lautoka Central College who beat Marist Brothers in Lautoka last year.

Friday's game starts at 15:45 at Albert Park 2 ? admission is free
