Tanzania remain only unbeaten team after day two
Tanzania beat Botswana in the battle of the top two on the second afternoon of Pepsi ICC Africa Division 2 at Willowmoore Park.
After winning the toss, Tanzania made 134-6 with Abhik Patwa's 84 off 49 dominating the innings. Botswana could only manage 120-8 in reply with Riziki Kiseto (2-21) and Benson Nyaikini (2-23) the leading bowlers.
Tanzania move out in front with four wins from four while Zambia join Botswana on three wins after they beat Ghana by five wickets. Ghana could only manage 82 with Godfrey Kandela's 2-8 leading the way in an outstanding fielding display. Zambia got home with 16 balls to spare, Abid Abdullah Patel top-scoring with 24 off 18 balls.
Sierra Leone claimed their first victory with a comprehensive win against Swaziland in the afternoon matches.
Ibrahim Kamara (53 off 49 balls) and Jacob Mansaray (46 not out off 25 balls) then led the way in Sierra Leone's 169-4. Swaziland could only manage 117-8 in reply despite a defiant effort from Idrisbhai Patel, who scored 51 off 38 balls. Solomon Williams (3-19) and Lansana Lamin (2-11) were the stand-out bowlers.
Seychelles thrashed Mozambique by seven wickets after bowling their opponent out for just 60 thanks to an outstanding effort from Mukesh Lalji Vadodariya who took 6-16. Seychelles eased to their target with six overs to spare, Hari Krishnan Kamalan top-scoring with 23.
Earlier, there were further victories for Tanzania and Botswana in the morning matches while Ghana's Obed Harvey struck the first century of the tournament.
Tanzania bowled Seychelles out for 85 thanks to Zamoyoni Jabaneke (3-14) and Elyas Mobeen (3-16) before easing to victory with five wickets and four overs to spare.
Botswana's victory was equally comprehensive despite 43 from Brent Reuben Bragge in Mozambiques's 102-8.
Karabo Modise top-scored in the reply with 45 off 29 balls as Botswana got home by seven wickets with 38 balls left unused.
Harvey's 101 off 59 balls was the stand-out innings of the competition to date as Ghana posted a huge total of 198-6 against Swaziland. For good measure, Harvey then claimed two wickets in the reply as Swaziland were bowled out for 133. Ghana secured their second victory in three matches by 65 runs to significantly boost their net-run-rate.
Zambia also picked up a second win of the tournament, by 56 runs against Sierra Leone.
Samir Iqbal Bagas top-scored for Zambia with 40 off 27 balls in their 169-5. Sierra Leone were never in the running in the run-chase as they closed on 113-6 to lose by 56 runs.
