Sarah Taylor could become the youngest women’s player to reach 1,000 one-day international runs if she makes 16 in the next NatWest Women’s ODI against India at Taunton today, Monday September 1.

The nineteen-year-old has racked up 984 runs in her two-year career so far including two centuries and four half-centuries from 32 matches. The youngster who hails from current LV Women’s County Champions, Sussex has an average of 40.33 and a highest score of 129.

Taylor’s captain Charlotte Edwards reached the 1,000 ODI runs milestone at the age of 20, the youngest player to date to achieve the feat.

Taylor said: “I am extremely excited about the prospect of scoring 1,000 runs for my country. It never occurred to me that getting 1,000 runs for England at my age would constitute a new record, until I was recently informed.

“Even though achieving this is fantastic I am going to continue playing my cricket in the same vain as I have been so far and hopefully further mine and the team’s success.”
