Thailand enters semi-finals
Maldives continued its impressive run in the ACC Trophy Challenge 2010. Maldvies beat China at the Gymkhana, Chiang Mai on Sunday, 5 December.
After opting to bat first Maldives made 112 in 33.2 overs with Zhang Peng picking 3-32. In reply, China was shot out for 55 in 21.5 overs with Mohamed Mahafooz picking 4-8 and Ismail Nihad ending with figures of 3-14.
At the Prem International School ground in Chianga Mai, Saudi Arabia logged a massive 355 in 48.1 overs against Saudi Arabia. Captain Shoaib Ali led from the front as he made 87 off 79 balls with 12 boundaries and one six. Hussain Bhatti (58: 61b, 7x4) and Umer Baif (52: 28b, 8x4) impressed in the massive total. In reply, Brunei was bowled out for 182 in 26.2 overs as Saudi Arabia won by a massive 206 runs. Bhatti backed up his half-century with a haul of 7-65 to star in the win.
At the Asian Institute of Technology ground in Bangkok, Qatar beat Iran by a massive margin of 156 runs. Batting first Qatar was bowled out for 187 in 41.4 overs. Rusharat Ali made 60 off 74 balls with five boundaries and one six to top-score in the innings. Abdolvahab Ebrahimipour was the best bowler for Iran with figures of 4-41.
In its reply, Iran was shot out for a mere 31 in 21.2 overs as Usman Malik pickled up 5-12.
Thailand was playing its first full international match at the Thailand Cricket Ground on the outskirts of Bangkok against Myanmar. The visitors' innings was limited to 90 in 46.4 overs. In the end, the home team overhauled the target with eight wickets to spare.
Thailand made it to the semi-finals by earning points from the forfeiture by Iran on the opening day of the tournament.
