Thailand name squad for Women’s Asia Cup
ICC Women’s Emerging Trophy champions retain their core as they prepare to open their Asia Cup campaign in Dubai.
Thailand have named their squad for the upcoming Women’s Asia Cup in Dubai, with captain Naruemol Chaiwai set to lead a side that retains much of the group that lifted the 2025 ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy.
Thailand also featured in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Global Qualifier earlier this year, advancing to the Super 6 stage. Chaiwai was the team’s leading run-scorer and the third-highest run-getter overall, while experienced spinner Thipatcha Putthawong finished as the joint-second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament.
Naomi Hamilton is the only new addition to the squad that participated in the Global Qualifier event in Nepal, which will look to build on Thailand’s recent progress on the international stage.
The bowling attack will be spearheaded by Putthawong, Suleeporn Laomi and Sunida Chaturongrattana. Putthawong enters the tournament as the joint-highest wicket-taker in Women’s T20Is, with 168 wickets, alongside India’s Deepti Sharma.
With the bat, Phannita Maya, Nannapat Khoncharoenkai and Natthakan Chantham will lead Thailand’s charge as they take on some of the leading sides in the region.
The eight-team Asia Cup begins on Friday, with Thailand placed in Group A alongside India, Pakistan and Hong Kong. They will get the tournament underway against Hong Kong in the opening match on Friday, August 28.
