The Oval cricket ground will be soon getting permanent floodlights as it has been given a go-ahead by Lambeth council.

With the installation of four permanent floodlights at the venue it will be easy to organize day-night matches as well as evening Twenty20 ties.

Speaking on the move, Paul Sheldon, the chief executive of Surrey County Club said, "These floodlights will help to ensure that the Brit Oval, and the borough of Lambeth, can continue to lead the way in delivering the highest standards for hosting international and domestic cricket.”

"Next year will be a hugely important one for the Brit Oval, with both the Ashes and the World Twenty20 to look forward to,” he added.

The installation is expected to be ready till the beginning of the 2009 domestic cricket season.
