Former Fiji captain Waisake Tukaha has this week joined Cricket Fiji as the newest member of the Development Team.

Tukaha, 40, has represented Fiji for the last 14 years and will be a valuable addition to the team whose continuing mission is to take the game to schools and children across Fiji.

His addition brings the team number to six, although this is likely to increase throughout the year as Cricket Fiji looks to spread the game to more remote parts of the country.

Development manager Jo Rika said he was delighted to have Tukaha join the staff.

"Waisake has a wealth of experience playing cricket, he?s been with the national team for many years and also played first grade in New South Wales," Rika said.

"He's also just come back from acting as assistant coach for the Under 19s.

"We think he's going to be a great addition to the team and help strengthen cricket development across Fiji."

Tukaha's addition is part of Cricket Fiji's overall development plan Viti Cricket which was launched last week.

Last year Cricket Fiji managed to conduct clinics in 33 schools throughout Fiji, reaching around 9,000 students and is looking to increase the number this year.
