U19 Venue Feature: Bert Sutcliffe Oval
The 48-match event is the third U19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand, which previously hosted the 2002 and 2010 editions. Christchurch is the only city that has multiple venues, with matches slotted at the Hagley Oval, Rangiora Oval, Bert Sutcliffe Oval and Lincoln No. 3.
Matches in Queenstown will be played at the John Davies Oval, while the fixtures in Tauranga and Whangarei will be played at the Bay Oval and the Cobham Oval respectively.

The Bert Sutcliffe Oval is located at the Lincoln University in Lincoln. It was established in 1998, and previously known as the BIL Oval. It was renamed in February 2000 in honour of Bert Sutcliffe, the New Zealand batsman who played 42 Tests, scoring 2727 runs at an average of 40.10.
The beautiful ground is located just outside Christchurch, and has a capacity of 3000.
The opening game of ICC U19 World Cup 2002, between New Zealand and Sri Lanka, was played at this ground. It hosted its first One-Day International, between Netherlands and Kenya, during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2014 qualifier on January 23, 2014. The Oval hosts Women's ODI matches, along with first-class and domestic fixtures. By far, the most exciting encounter at the venue was the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2000, when New Zealand defeated Australia by four runs in front of a packed crowd.
During the ICC U19 CWC 2010, this ground hosted 10 matches, including the final between Australia and Pakistan, which the former won by 25 runs.
