U19 Venue Feature: John Davies Oval

England, which plays all three of its group games in the South Island paradise, will host Bangladesh in a repeat of the opening clash of the 2017 Champions Trophy, staged in the UK.

The 48-match event is the third U19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand, which previously hosted the 2002 and 2010 editions. Christchurch is the only city that has multiple venues, with matches slotted at the Hagley Oval, Rangiora Oval, Bert Sutcliffe Oval and Lincoln No. 3.

Matches in Queenstown will be played at the John Davies Oval, while the fixtures in Tauranga and Whangarei will be played at the Bay Oval and the Cobham Oval respectively.

Easily one of the most beautiful grounds in the country, if not the world, the John Davies Oval is nestled between the Remarkable mountain range and the beautiful Lake Wakatipu with an airport that is just far enough from the ground for massive hits to not land on the runway.

Its first international match was a One-Day International between New Zealand and India in 2003, just a few months after its first-class debut.

A multi-purpose stadium, the ground has hosted only 10 men's international matches in the ODI format with three of them called off due to rain. One of only two international centuries scored on this ground is by Corey Anderson, the U19 CWC 2018 ambassador.
