Some the world's best young talent will be on display in Townsville over the next 10 days with the U19 International Quadrangular Series taking place between Australia, England, India and New Zealand.

The series will be a preview to the showcase youth cricket event, when the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup takes place in Queensland in August, with Townsville one of three host cities along with Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.

The Australia U19 team is being guided by Victorian coach Greg Shipperd who said he was looking forward to working with some of Australia's best emerging players as they look towards the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in a few months' time.

"Every young cricketer hopes to represent their country and this tournament will be a great experience for these players against some of the best U19 cricketers from around the world and good guide on how their game is going as they look towards the U19 World Cup in August," Shipperd said.

"This tournament will give these young players the opportunity to get a good handle on the conditions they will play in during the World Cup and a glimpse on the opposition they may come up against in a few months' time.

"The final squad for the U19 World Cup will be confirmed in the lead-up to the tournament and this series provides these players with an outstanding opportunity for them to show why they should be picked in that final squad.

"I'm looking forward to working with these players and assisting them in their development during this important stage of their young career."

All matches in the series will be one-day internationals and the action gets underway tomorrow with Australia playing England at Tony Ireland Stadium, while India will take on New Zealand at nearby Endeavour Park.

All of Australia's matches will be live scored on cricket.com.au, while scorecards of the neutral game will be uploaded to cricket.com.au at the end of each match.
