Umpire Lauren Agenbag makes history in South Africa

Agenbag officiated in the match between Central Gauteng Lions and Boland in the CSA Provincial three-day competition in Johannesburg from Thursday to Saturday.

In February this year, Agenbag became the first-ever woman from South Africa to officiate in a T20I, which was played between Sri Lanka and South Africa in Cape Town. She was also included in ICC's all-female panel at the Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier Final and play-offs last month.

“Lauren has become a standard-bearer for women’s umpiring in South Africa,” said CSA’s Acting Director of Cricket, Corrie van Zyl on Tuesday, 22 October. “She has shown that there is no limit to what can be achieved with the required dedication and determination to live one’s personal dreams.

“I am sure she will inspire others to follow the path she has set.”
