Umpires and referees announced for ICC U/19 Cricket World Cup Bangladesh 2004

The International Cricket Council today announced the umpires and referees for the ICC U/19 Cricket World Cup Bangladesh 2004.

A total of 12 umpires have been selected to officiate in the tournament, most of whom are currently members of Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires.

This is the first time that several of these umpires have been given overseas appointments by the ICC and all 12 officials will have an opportunity to stand in at least eight matches.

"This is an excellent opportunity for the match officials to build on their domestic experience by officiating on matches in different conditions involving different teams," said ICC General Manager - Cricket David Richardson.

Three umpires and one referee will be based in each of the four regions for the first group stage.

Half of these officials will then take charge of the Super League matches in Dhaka while the other half will officiate in the Plate matches in Chittagong.

The top-performing officials will then stand in the semi-finals and final of the Super League and Plate tournaments.

No Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires have been appointed from Sri Lanka or New Zealand as there is international cricket taking place in both of those countries at the same time as the ICC U/19 Cricket World Cup 2004.
