Umpires Announced For EAP Div 1
The ICC East-Asia Pacific office is thrilled to announce that Australia's Emirates International Panel of Umpires Member and first class umpire Bruce Oxenford will stand alongside some of the East-Asia Pacific Regions best up-and-coming umpires in the Pepsi ICC EAP Division 1 tournament in PNG from 4-7 July.
Oxenford has been appointed to the tournament to stand alongside the four appointed ICC East-Asia Pacific Elite Panel umpires in a mentoring role.
ICC East-Asia Pacific Umpires Manager Bob Parry says that to have someone of the quality of Oxenford involved in the tournament is a great result for umpiring in the region.
"To have 4 of our 6 top ranked EAP umpires together with the opportunity to stand in matches with Bruce Oxenford is very appropriate as we all try to raise the profile of umpiring in EAP," said Parry.
Oxenford is also looking forward to the opportunity to work with umpires based in developing cricketing nations such as PNG, Vanuatu and Japan.
"It will be a terrific experience to stand alongside some of these umpires in a mentoring role," said Oxenford. "I am really looking forward to the challenge."
Oxenford will stand alongside four members of the East-Asia Pacific Elite Umpires Panel in Neil Harrison (Japan), Lakani Oala (PNG), Grant Johnston (Vanuatu) and Geoff Clelland (Vanuatu).
Alu Kapa (PNG) who is a member of the East-Asia Pacific Supplementary Umpires Panel will be a reserve for the event but will get the opportunity to work with Oxenford in some stand-alone 50 over matches at the conclusion of the tournament.
