Cricket PNG will be again running its popular Super 8's cricketing concept, the Hebou Women's Battle of the Codes Super 8's Cricket Trophy this Sunday the 7th of February at Amini Park and Colts Ground.

Invitations were sent out to all the sporting bodies in PNG and eight (8) sports have confirmed their participation. They are as follows: Bowling Association, Canoeing Association, Netball Federation, Power-lifting Federation, Soccer, Softball Federation, Touch Rugby and Volleyball.

'Some of these sporting codes have taken up the invitation of having training sessions in the lead up to this event, lead by Cricket PNG's finest coaches,' said Tournament Director Gayan Loku.

Cricket PNG have also selected two (2) Port Moresby Women Cricketer's in each team to assist the Sporting Codes who might not have played the game before. Only one Port Moresby Cricketer will be able to play in each team in each game. The Port Moresby Cricketers have been selected from a large group of women who have been training 2-3 times a week for the last month.

'These girls have been training very hard', said Rarua Dikana, Cricket PNG's High Performance Manager. 'They are very much looking forward to playing with and against some of the best female athletes in this country.'

'This selection will have no bearing on the PNG Lewas Squad which will be competing in the ICC EAP Women's Trophy in Japan in May. This Event is a promotion of Cricket and an opportunity for the best athletes to compete in an exciting format said national selector Rarua Dikana.

The Hebou Battle of the Codes Super 8's will consist of teams of 8 players playing 10 over per side matches, in a series of round robin matches, followed by a final to determine the Champion Sporting Code.
