Universal Music to release official ICC CWC 2011 album

As ICC Cricket World Cup fever grips the sub-continent, Universal Music India prepares to release the official tournament album aptly named 'De Ghumake'.

The album is led by the foot-tapping and infectious official World Cup song of the same name by the prolific Bollywood music directors, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The rest of the album boasts of a high-energy mix of international hits from the likes of Enrique Iglesias, Black Eyed Peas, Rihanna, Lady Gaga as well as artists providing a local flavour, such as AR Rahman and other big Bollywood hits.

The official song is performed in three different languages, Hindi (sung by Shankar Mahadevan), Bangla (sung by Raghab Chatterjee) and Sinhalese (sung by Ranidu Lankage), reflecting languages of the three host countries.

Universal Music India enjoys worldwide rights for this album and will be releasing it on 10 February 2011. The album will be available in retail stores across Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka as well as being downloadable from here.

ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat said: "Music really helps to create a buzz around an event and I am delighted we have such an energetic and diverse selection of great songs that will surely become the soundtrack of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011."
