Vanuatu Cricket hit the beach
Vanuatu Cricket launched yet another outstanding development programme last week, with 16 boys and girls teams competing in the NBV Beach Cricket Championships held at Mele beach.
Vanuatu Cricket Association staff and volunteers set up eight grounds along the picturesque beach, with a series of round robin matches played between local school teams.
General Manager of Vanuatu Cricket Pierre Chilia acknowledged the continuous support received from the local bank. ?I wish to reiterate that this is the fifth year NBV has sponsored the Vanuatu Cricket Beach Carnival and every year the competition continues to grow and attracts new kids,? said Chilia.
The finals for the Championships were held following a well deserved lunch break, with Ecole Pango Esnar School facing Melemaat School in the girls final and the boys from Pango Esnar also competed in the final, against Central.
Both finals went down to wire, with Pango Esnar School winning both the boys and girls competitions in extremely tight contests.
The NBV Beach Cricket Championships Trophy is an outstanding example of the changing face of cricket, and in particular the innovative ways in which cricket can be introduced to young people.
Vanuatu Cricket wishes to acknowledge NBV for their continuous support with the development of cricket.
