Vanuatu makes sponsorship announcement

Airports Vanuatu Ltd (AVL) has presented Vanuatu Cricket with a sponsorship cheque of VT100 000 in support of the 2010 Pepsi International Cricket Council (ICC) East Asia-Pacific (EAP) Under 17 Cricket Trophy.

The sponsorship arrangement is a demonstration of AVL's ongoing commitment to Vanuatu Cricket and the competition landscape of the sport in Vanuatu.

When presented with the cheque, General Manager of Vanuatu Cricket Pierre Chilia thanked AVL's Chief Executive Officer Hendry T. Joewangeh for their support and acknowledged the importance of AVL's contribution to the tournament.

"This sponsorship shall go a long way to ensuring that the tournament, the only opportunity for the people of Vanuatu to watch live international cricket this year in Port Vila, runs smoothly."

One of the initiatives that the sponsorship shall support is the Lunchtime Pikinini Activities for all pikinini spectators. This shall to be held at Independence Park only between 7 and 10 September.

The activities shall be run during the lunch break between 11:25am and 11:45am, and include different fun cricket activities.

"This is one way that we want to encourage young people to the games. It gives them an opportunity to watch some great cricket, and then have a go themselves whilst the teams are having their lunch and changing over for the second innings" stated Chilia.

Entry to all matches at either Independence Park or Kazaa Field (Korman Roundabout) shall be free.
