The inaugural Digicel Vanuatu National Women's Cricket team has been named with 18 members announced in the squad.

The squad will have approximately four weeks to train and develop as a team before they take on Fiji and North Coast Zone Women's in the 2011 Women's Tri Series. This tournament will run from 11 to 16 April.

Coach Andrew Mansale noted that selecting the team was a very difficult process but encourages those who missed out to keep training hard.

"We had over 30 women put up their hand for selection which is fantastic when you are picking a national team for the first time. This group will train hard over the next four weeks and proudly represent Vanuatu at the 2011 Women's Tri Series, but this is only the first step in a long journey for women's cricket in Vanuatu. Next year we will be hosting the 2012 Pepsi International Cricket Council (ICC) East Asia-Pacific (EAP) Women's Cricket Trophy and I encourage those who missed out, or who haven't yet joined in, to keep practicing because all places in the team will be up for grabs again early next year."

Vanuatu Cricket would like to congratulate the following 18 women who have been selected in the Digicel Vanuatu National Women's team for the 2011 Women?s Tri Series and wish them all the best in the preparations.
