Vanuatu shows support for HIV awareness

13034 ICC EAP, Vanuatu Cricket and UNAIDS join forces

To recognise the International Cricket Council's (ICC) longstanding partnership with UNAIDS and UNICEF, Vanuatu Cricket and the ICC East Asia - Pacific Office coordinated a commemorative photo taken on Independence Park in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

Completed during the opening ceremony of the 2010 Pepsi ICC EAP U17 Cricket Trophy, the photo involved the participating teams, officials, umpires and volunteers of the tournament along with Vanuatu Cricket staff and board members wearing red shirts and forming the shape of the UNAIDS symbol, the red ribbon.

The image will now be used in a poster competition to be run through non-government organisation Wan Smol Bag. Community groups will be asked to design a poster that includes the image and promotes the message of HIV and AIDS awareness. The selected poster will be printed and distributed by Vanuatu Cricket to organisations and schools throughout Vanuatu. The finalised poster will be launched on World AIDS Day - December 1st 2010.

Vanuatu Cricket would like to thank Leith Campbell from Top Shots photography, Bin Tong and Vate Electrics for provision of the required equipment for the photo shoot.
