Vanuatu Twenty20 Championship Starts this Weekend
The VCA Twenty20 Club Championship starts this weekend, with all teams trying to take the crown off the powerful Mele Bulls.
Mele won all four titles last season, but will find it much tougher in this T20 campaign with the Dolphins, the Paama Sharks, Tafea CC, Tuskers North Efate, Ifira BB and the Malapoa College Boys.
With the ICC EAP Division 1 Trophy coming up in July, players in the pre-squad will be aiming to impress the selectors in the T20 championship.
Round one delivers some very interesting battles between Dolphins versus Ifira. Reports within the team camps are that there are some new recruits and therefore competition will be tough this year.
Dolphins will be much strong this year as their strike bowler "Kenny Rooster" just returned home after spending three months at the Bracewell Cricket Academy in New Zealand.
Ifira on the other hand are taking each game seriously as they are looking to create surprises to the teams.
At Independence Park the Paama Sharks juniors and seniors will go head-to-head to see who will be the leading challenger for season 2011. Malapoa will go in as favourites with their team having a lot of talent. The Sharks features some varieties of players as they will be creating surprises for the college boys.
The Mighty Mele Bulls will take on Tafea Sandalwood who was struggling last season with numbers. Reports within the "Tafea" camp are there is a new found confidence within the team due to some recruits and therefore competition will be tough for the Bulls.
The VCA wishes all teams all the best for the season.
